Project Overview

Elbe Education provides online tutoring and study services for the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination. This product is aimed at Chinese people who want to obtain professional licenses in the United States. Their mission is to help even non-English speaking Chinese to start their careers with confidence and ease.

My Contributions

I was involved in the design of the refurbished product's webpage. In order to meet the demand for mobile learning, I worked with the product manager to plan the mobile app version, and I handled all the design.

Challenge

The web product already had a complex and organized learning system, and I needed to extract the necessary functionality to put into mobile and maintain as much of the same interaction and experience as possible. And I needed to think about what community elements I could add to make mobile unique and retainable.

Approach

Different from the web version, I put the dashboards, courses, and analytics modules into tabs to simplify the complexity of each page as much as possible, but still keep the elements consistent.

Since the developer is using Flutter for rapid development, I discussed with the engineers to use Material Design 3 components as the base and adjusted it according to the brand style as the design system.

The Final Stage

By using a library of elements, the design and development timeline was very fast, and we were able to realize and validate the product much faster.

Ｗe added a more community-based section, including audio and video content, as well as a discussion forum for massage industry-related events, effectively increasing the breadth of Elbe Education's business.
